These are unusual times, and we wanted to say Hi! to all of our clients, check that you’re well, and to let you know that we’re still here.
In ways big and small, barely anyone remains untouched by the effects of COVID-19.
This was vividly illustrated this morning when our nine-year-old daughter and her friends were unable to meet for a long-planned birthday party, because so many of us are in isolation.
We’re all well thus far – thankfully – but for the first time in their memory this little group of girls couldn’t get together to celebrate. They couldn’t sing happy birthday to Lucy or blow out those ten little candles on her cake. Worse things happen, but for those little girls, this was a big deal.
So what did they do? Using the internet they arranged to meet online for a virtual party, played games together, sang happy birthday to the birthday girl and watched her open presents. It’s a birthday party they’ll never forget!
This got us thinking that even though for some time we cannot all be together physically, this world we live in still allows us to make connections and be there for each other virtually, and importantly without risk of infection.
In fact, in many ways, for the writing community, that’s how we operate anyway. This is what we do, and it’s been wonderful to see the writing community coming together in such strong ways to support one another as we all face various degrees of isolation.
One of the great things about the world we live in today is that physical isolation no longer needs to mean social isolation. At Design for Writers we wanted to say that although we too are joining everyone else in social distancing, we’re very much still here, still open for business, and still ready to support you wherever we can.
These certainly are new and uncertain times, but they are also times which bring people closer together, and help us to appreciate the connections we do have. We’re still here for you, our valued clients, in the same way we’ve been there for each other over the years. Drop us an email or say hello on social media – we can’t wait to connect with you.
But more than anything else: stay safe, wash those hands, and keep to the social distancing guidelines wherever you are.
Together we will beat this, and together our wonderful writing community will come back stronger than ever.
There’s a lot of reading still to do.
